Sand and Soil on Watercolor and Chipboard
« « A mask is the face that imagination attributes to a god » »
Since prehistoric times to the present day, masks have been a crucial element of human psychological expression.Their symbolic, esoteric, and spiritual significance has allowed for the expression of various aspects of the human condition, such as identity, mystery, and transformation. Masks depict the "drama of life" in its myriad facets, exploring the duality between the visible and the occult, the known and the unknown. "Take off your mask," as thepopular saying goes, thus underscores the importance of authenticity and sincerity in a world filled with appearances. Challenged by contemporary social masks, the artist reflects on how individuals conceal themselves behind facades in their daily lives. This artistic exploration highlights the tension between the quest for socialvalidation and the search for genuine identity.
